Mammography Facility Registrants Q. What are the requirements to become a mammography technologist? A. In short, a technologist must be accredited by this Department, have 40 documented hours of mammography training, and perform 25 mammography examinations under the supervision of a qualified technologist. See also Section 370.70(b). Q. Where can I find compliance guidance? A. The FDA's website has an extensive policy guidance help system that will provide answers to most regulatory questions. Please visit: http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/mammography/guidance-rev.html Q. When am I due for inspection? A. Please have your registration number or facility I.D. number available and call 217-785-9974. Q. What's this fee for and why do I have to pay it? A. Mammography facilities in Illinois are billed $750 annually, each July for certification. This fee covers our costs for certifying and inspecting each facility. In addition, FDA bills facilities $509 for each inspection. Note that the FDA fees paid by facilities in non-certifying states are $1,749 per inspection (plus an additional amount for multiple machines). |
